Stainer in the Grocery

The Author of this post is Velma Baird

Have you ever been stopped in the grocery store by someone that you don’ t know who feels like they want to tell you their life story? I don’t know if I just look like a good listener or look like I’m purposefully meandering around the grocery store, but this happens to me at least once a week. Last week, I got stopped in the dog food isle but a woman in her mid-forties. She saw me buying what she felt was the wrong kind of dog food. She preceded to explain the different types and suggested that I get another one.

I yielded and picked up a different kind because I was in a hurry and felt like she would leave me alone if I did. I was wrong. She cornered me, talking to be about her son who was an airline pilot and how she got Direct Star Tv. I anxiously continued to look at my watch, thinking that she would get the hint. Fifteen minutes later (half of my allotted grocery time) I was able to sneak away! My new approach to grocery shopping: acting like I don’t speak English.
